WAYNE ROONEY’S agent has been spotted leaving the Lowry Hotel minutes before Manchester United boss Jose Mourinho.
Rooney’s future is in doubt after starting just 12 league games this season.
Former club Everton are interested, as are a number of cash-rich teams in the Chinese Super League.
But Rooney’s agent and the Manchester United manager did not meet up to discuss Rooney’s future and weren’t aware of each other’s presence at the hotel.
The England international still has two years left on his United contract after penning a £300,000-a-week deal in 2014.
Mourinho made no secret of his desire to sign Rooney after taking charge at Chelsea for a second spell in 2013.
But reports claim the Special One is keen to move his captain along in order to make room for new signings.
Atletico Madrid ace Antoine Griezmann is Mourinho’s top attacking target, although there is interest in Juventus star Paulo Dybala as well.
