ROBERTO CARLOS claims Roy Hodgson played a shocker by constantly deploying him as a STRIKER at Inter Milan.
Former Real Madrid and Brazil star Carlos is arguably the greatest left-back of all time, having won four La Liga titles, three Champions Leagues and the World Cup.
Carlos also scooped numerous trophies while playing in his homeland and even landed silverware during a short stint in Turkey.
But his one season at Italian giants Inter Milan in the 95/96 season left him feeling a bit flat, despite securing a move to Real the year after.
Ex-England boss Hodgson was in charge at the time and opted to play Carlos as an attacker rather than in his natural position at the back.
Speaking to FourFourTwo, Carlos said: “Roy Hodgson was an important person in my career, even if I thought he was damaging at the time.
“He played me as a centre-forward for Inter. It was impossible. I could understand if he played me as a winger because I was an attacking full-back.
“But as one of two strikers? Come on, I’m 5ft 6in! The balls were flying well over my head.”

Carlos also took time to explain his deep bond with fellow Brazilian legend Ronaldo, with the duo ending up playing together at the Santiago Bernabeu.
Carlos added: “Ronaldo is not my friend, he’s the brother I never had. I’ve always treated him with great love, care and respect, and we’ve been best friends since we were 17.
“I’ve slept in the same room as Ronnie – in separate beds, obviously – more times in my life than with my wife!”
