BENOIT ASSOU-EKOTTO posted a selfie of himself with Paul Scholes on Twitter — but all was not as it seemed.
In the picture alongside the former Tottenham full-back was merely his Metz team-mate, Florent Mollet — a ginger-haired man who looked vaguely familiar to the ex-Manchester United midfielder.
The photo was taken en route to the stadium, before 2-1 win over Nancy at home in Ligue 1, and the caption read: “with paul scholes yesterday b4 the game #legende”.

Mollet seemed completely unaware of the comparison as he innocently posed for the picture with his fun-loving team-mate.

Assou-Ekotto played in England from 2006 to 2015, spending the majority of his time at White Hart Lane — before moving on loan at QPR.
He then spent a season at St Etienne and joined Metz in the summer.
Scholes look-a-like, Mollet, is an attacking midfielder — but it’s in those two areas where the similarities end.
The 25-year-old started his career in Ligue 2 at Dijon and moved onto Creteil in the same division, but saw his side relegated.
In the summer, he got his big move.
And has now come to the attention of fans all over the footballing world on Twitter.
But just for looking like Scholes, not playing like him.
