Amir Khan may be a former boxing world champion.. but he is utterly useless at football

Bolton fan appeared on Soccer AM and took on the volley challenge ahead of Anthony Joshua's fight

AMIR KHAN may be a self-declared ‘king’ in the ring, but he is utterly useless at football.

The former boxing light-welterweight champion was a guest on Soccer AM ahead of Anthony Joshua’s huge bout with Wladimir Klitschko.

The Bolton fan, wearing their all-white home jersey, took part in the Volley Challenge where each contestant has to try and score by hitting the rebound off the spring board.

But it wasn’t a simple task for the 30-year-old who took a wild swing and missed the ball on the first attempt.

A roar of cheers and laughter erupted from the audience in attendance before Khan was given another attempt.

This time he connected with the ball but it sailed widely over the bar as he ran off with a grin on his face.

Khan hasn’t fought since he was knocked out to Canelo Alvarez in May last year after going up two weight divisions.

And Khan admits he would reluctantly go up one weight again for his next fight but wouldn’t make the same mistake again.

Speaking on the show he said: “I’d probably go one weight, but I wouldn’t go up two weights again.

“Especially against someone who comes down three weights just to make that fight.

“If I do go up a weight again, I’ll probably cap it so the opponent I face can’t go over a X amount of weight.”

All eyes will be on Joshua’s Wembley date with Klitschko on Saturday night – dubbed Britain’s biggest fight.

A record 90,000 will be crammed into England’s national stadium to watch the action unfold.
