A BREATHTAKING video showing off all things Mayo was released ahead the county’s day this weekend.
Mayo Day kicks off on Saturday April 29, and will be spread over three days.
The beautifully evocative short film titled Our Day, was written and directed by award-winning Mayo Director Lorcan Hynes and shows off the best of the Heather county.
It’s not just for Mayo people, as its themes of emigration and rural identity resonate in areas throughout the country.

The film was voiced by Mayo actor Seamus Moran and renowned film composer Garreth Averill did the score.
Shots of New York and the construction of Knock Airport remind you that it really is the last stop before America.
The film was commissioned by Mayo.ie, a diaspora website ahead of Mayo Day 2017.
This year’s festival will celebrate Mayo’s centuries old links to France, with French ambassador Jean-Pierre Thébault appearing as the guest of honour.
To add to the excitement, local groups and historical societies will also be staging full-blooded re-enactments of past battles against the English.
Local pubs will be serving green and red cocktails for the event which will see arts, history, music and street theatre come alive to celebrate ‘Mayo-ness’.
