Mavuba was born on a boat amidst the Angolan Civil War… he officially has no country of birth!
But it never stopped the international offers coming in.
In fact he had the choice of two, turning down an offer from DR Congo in favour of France – who gave him citizenship.
And he’s certainly made France his own.
He’s made around 400 appearances for Bordeaux and Lille and even won the league with the latter.
