Barcelona will reportedly halt their chase of Philippe Coutinho until next summer but will renew their interest in Jean Michael Seri in January.
The Nice midfielder was heavily linked with a move to the Nou Camp in the summer but failed to seal a move.
But according to the Mirror, that could be good news for Liverpool as they will go back on for the Ivorian in the New Year.
And that will mean their chase of Coutinho will have to wait until the end of this season.
Barca had agreed terms with the Ligue 1 side over Seri’s transfer, but the move suddenly fell through.
That was reportedly down to the Catalan club wanting to throw everything at their efforts to get Coutinho.
And, as neither of the two arrived, Sport insist they will renew their interest in the “new Xavi” once the winter window opens in January.
But Barca are unlikely to go after both Seri and Coutinho in the same transfer window due to financing both.

Barcelona were ready to break the bank in order to secure the services of Coutinho.
They launched three bids for the Brazilian winger but Liverpool stayed firm and refused to part their their No 1 asset.
Seri was instrumental as Nice mounted a title challenge in France, before eventually finishing third.
He helped his side overcome Ajax in the second preliminary qualifier for the Champions League — before being knocked out against Napoli at the final hurdle.
Should Barcelona sign him in January, he would not be cup tied for Europe’s premier competition, unlike Coutinho.
