Tottenham line up swoop for Liverpool striker Divock Origi with Jurgen Klopp willing to let Belgian leave

Frontman has fallen down the pecking order at Anfield so far this season and is concerned for World Cup hopes

Tottenham could swoop for Divock Origi before the end of the transfer window.

The Liverpool striker has fallen down the pecking order at Anfield in the early stages of the season and failed to make the matchday squad for the win over Hoffenheim on Wednesday.

Boss Jurgen Klopp selected Roberto Firmino in the starting XI, with fit-again Daniel Sturridge and summer signing Dominic Solanke among the substitutes.

Belgium international Origi is understood to be concerned for his World Cup prospects if the situation does not improve.

And, according to the Telegraph, Klopp is willing to let the attacker leave to find first-team football, with Spurs among the interested parties.

Any move would depend on Liverpool securing their own targets – including Arsenal’s Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain and Bayern Munich midfielder Renato Sanches – before Thursday’s deadline.

Origi’s sale would help further bolster the Reds’ transfer coffers after already securing their Champions League windfall this week.

The versatile frontman moved to Merseyside from Lille in a £10million deal in 2014 before being loaned immediately back to the French side the following season.

He has since scored 12 goals in 51 Premier League appearances for the club having profited from Sturridge’s injury woes.

And Klopp – who remains a fan of the player – will not let Origi leave without netting a hefty profit.

Tottenham boss Mauricio Pochettino has funds following the £50m exit of Kyle Walker to Man City and is keen to bolster his attack.
