Manchester United have been linked with a surprise move for Paris Saint-Germain winger Julian Draxler.
United have been frustrated in their summer-long pursuit of Croatian star Ivan Perisic and are now starting to consider other options.
According to the Mirror, one of those who has now entered the thoughts of boss Jose Mourinhois Germany star Draxler.
PSG have decided they will be willing to let the 23-year-old leave the club this summer as they look to trim the size of their squad.
And his availability is said to have caught the attention of Mourinho, who is still looking to bring in a wide player before the transfer window closes at the end of the month.
Draxler is one of the fall-guys of PSG’s huge summer investment which saw them smash the world record to sign Neymar from Barcelona for £198million.
There is still the potential for them to complete the signing of Monaco sensation Kylian Mbappe before the end of this month.
But the club desperately need to trim some of the wages from their payroll, and last week they allowed Blaise Matuidi to join Juventus in an £18.2m deal.
And Draxler, who was named the player of the tournament at the Confederations Cup earlier in the summer, is another they are prepared to let leave.
Arsenal have long been admirers of the former Wolfsburg star, and boss Arsene Wenger is considering making a £32m bid to finally take him to the Emirates Stadium.
But Chelsea and Liverpool have also shown an interest after PSG told the player he would be allowed to leave the French capital.
The attraction for United would be Draxler is now looking to be priced at a lower valuation to that of Perisic – who Inter are demanding £40m for.
And he is also five years young than the Croation, meaning he would represent better long term value for money.
