Real Madrid have agreed in principle a world record fee for Monaco star Kylian Mbappe.
That’s according to Spanish news outlet Marca, who claim a stunning £160million (€180million) transfer fee has been agreed.
In a summer that has already seen money changing hands in an extortionate way, this transfer would signal a new era in the market.
Mbappe is still just 18 years old, but his performances in his breakthrough season for the Monaco club has seen him become one of the hottest properties in world football.
He scored 16 goals and assisted 12 in 40 Ligue Un games for the club last season, and his six goals in nine Champions League games saw his side achieve an unlikely semi-final berth in last season’s campaign.
Marca claim the player and representatives have had long negotiations for Mbappe’s signature, and the young French star is already looking forward to playing for the club.
Nothing is set in stone at this stage yet, with the deal only ‘agreed in principle’, but it looks more and more likely that Mbappe will be wearing the famous Los Blancosshirt next season.
