Roma have contacted Manchester United for Anthony Martial.
The Italians are keen to add some extra pace to their attack following the departure of Mohamed Salah to Liverpool.
Ideally Roma would like to take the Frenchman on a season-long loan.
According to the Daily Mirror, United chiefs are likely to block a temporary move for Martial who lost his way at Old Trafford last term under Jose Mourinho.
The Serie A outfit could come back with a bid of around £30million for the French international who started just 18 Premier League games last season.
Martial 21, move to United in September 2015 on deadline day from Monaco in a deal that could be worth up to £57.6million.
The youngster was United’s top scorer in his first season at the club with 17 goals under former Reds boss Louis Van Gaal, but was dropped several times last season by Mourinho.
The attacker cut a frustrated figure at times, scoring just eight goals in all competitions with reports his future was under heavy scrutiny by his Portuguese boss.
Martial was warned by Mourinho last December to “listen to me not his agent” amid reports of a move to Sevilla in January.
Roma have the Salah money to spend, and may tempt United to do business following the signing of Romelu Lukaku and Victor Lindelof with Mourinho chasing more additions.
Martial has been included in the Reds pre-season squad on tour in the US where they will face LA Galaxy, Manchester City, Real Madrid and Barcelona.
United have been linked with Inter Milan winger Ivan Perisic and according to reports could steal a march on Chelsea for Monaco midfielder Tiemoue Bakayoko.
