West Ham are front-runners to sign Burnley’s £15million speedster striker Andre Gray.
The 26-year-old has a year left on his contract at Turf Moor and has turned down a new deal, sparking a frenzied transfer scramble.
According to the Standard, Slaven Bilic wants Gray to join the club to inject some pace into the squad after West Ham had a painful introduction to the London Stadium.
Sean Dyche’s side are unwilling to meet Gray’s wage demands and would lose him for nothing next summer if they fail to agree a new deal.
Gray scored nine Premier League goals last term as the Clarets managed to stave off relegation fears and finish 16th.
He is also being chased by Everton and Newcastle as the summer transfer window moves into its second week.
Bilic also has his eye on Michy Batshuayi, Kelechi Iheanacho and Olivier Giroud, who looks to be on his way to Everton.
The Hammers are hoping the addition of Pablo Zabaleta can help lure Iheanacho south to London.
Former Manchester United striker Javier Hernandez has also been looked at by the Croatian manager.
The Hammers have Andy Carroll, Diafra Sakho, Andre Ayew and Ashley Fletcher in attack – and between them they managed just one league goal up until February last season.
Burnley still have Ashley Barnes and Sam Vokes, and 20-year-old Dan Agyei spent last season on loan at Coventry City, where he scored four goals.
