It looks like long-term Arsenal target Alexandre Lacazette is finally making the switch from Lyon to North London.
The French forward has completed a medical ahead of becoming the club’s record transfer signing in a deal worth at least £45million.
The deal will hopefully be confirmed soon, although there’s currently varying reports from a number of a sources on social media.
Kaveh Solhekol from Sky Sports has claimed the deal will be “announced soon”, while the BBC’s Mr. Reliable David Ornstein has said any announcement is unlikely to happen today.
Hmm.
Lacazette’s fee is said to be £45m, although it’s widely believed to rise to £52m with add-ons.
Either way, the 26-year-old will become Arsenal’s most expensive signing ever, surpassing the £42.4m-odd Arsenal paid Real Madrid for Mesut Ozil back in 2013.
So is he any good?
Well, last term proved to be his most prolific season to date, as he notched 28 goals in 30 appearances in Ligue 1, accumulating 37 strikes in all competitions.
On the back of his sensational season, Lacazette has opted to seek pastures new and test himself away from Lyon, with a number of club’s registering interest in recent weeks.
AC Milan, Atletico Madrid and even West Ham have been linked with the France international in the past, but Arsenal have seemingly pipped the lot.
The signing will (probably) please long-suffering Arsenal fans, who have been crying out for a world-class forward since Robin Van Persie departed the club in 2012.
