Chelsea drop £30million from Diego Costa’s asking price in desperate attempt to offload Atletico Madrid target

Ruthless Blues boss Antonio Conte text the striker while he was away with Spain saying he was out on his ear this summer

Chelsea have chopped £30million off of Diego Costa’s asking price and will flog him for as little as £50m, according to reports in Italy.

The Spain striker wants to return to Atletico Madrid but they are under a transfer ban that blocks them registering players until next 2018 so his £80m deal looks dead.

The Brazil-born forward looked set for China for big bucks in January but his popularity has plummeted like his pricetag and he is now available on the ‘cheap’.

Gianlucadimarzio.com claims the Premier League champions have dropped their asking price in an effort to force him out of the club as soon as possible.

Costa was allegedly stunned when Blues boss Antonio Conte ditched him by text message at the start of June.

While on international duty – after a 2-2 draw with Colombia – Costa claimed: “Antonio Conte has told me by message that I will not continue with Chelsea and that’s it.

Conte received plenty of praise last season – even before his title win – for getting the best out of the striker, improving his discipline and managing his links to the Chinese Super League.

But it seems, now he has the title and the backing of his board after a stellar debut campaign, he can cut all ties with Costa who admits to longing for Atletico.

He said: “Five months without playing? I do not know, it’s complicated.

“But people know that I love Atletico a lot and that I love living in Madrid.
