Manchester United’s interest in re-signing Michael Keane has all-but ended after the club announced a deal for Victor Lindelof.
The Swedish defender is set to complete his £35million move to Old Trafford after he reported for international duty.
And now Everton are being tipped to swoop in and sign Keane from Burnley.
Lindelof, 22, played the full 90 minutes as Sweden beat France 2-1 in their World Cup qualifier in Stockholm.
Ola Toivonen netted a 93rd-minute winner for the home team as they leapfrogged Les Bleus on goal difference at the top of Group A of the European qualifying group.
And Lindelof will be comforted to know he is in line for a big-money move to the red half of Manchester, as Jose Mourinho’s overhaul of the club continues.
But according to the Times, Keane has now been crossed off United’s wish list, two years after they let him go to Burnley.
Keane was let go by Manchester United in 2015 as Sean Dyche snapped him up for the Clarets.
And now the 24-year-old top of Everton’s wishlist with Ronald Koeman understood to have fancied signing Uruguay defender Mauricio Lemos with the understanding Keane was heading back to United.
Keane has gone on to star for Burnley in the Premier League and won two England caps last season under Gareth Southgate.

Meanwhile Lindelof will complete his switch from Benfica to United for £35m after the Portuguese club settled their wrangle with former club Vasteras over their windfall from the transfer.
The Swedish club are set to receive about £3m from the transfer, plus performance related add-ons.
Mourinho pulled off one of the signings of the season last year as Eric Bailly joined Manchester United and immediately became one of the star defenders of the Premier League.
But with Bailly, Marcos Rojo, Daley Blind, Phil Jones, Chris Smalling, Timothy Fosu-Mensah and now Lindelof all able to play centre-back, there is speculation one or two names could be on their way out of the club.
