Should the worst kept secret in football finally become common knowledge this summer Atletico Madrid are prepared.
The La Liga giants, depending on whether their existing transfer ban is lifted or not, are preparing for the proposed exit of poster boy Antoine Griezmann.
Manchester United are leading the way for the French international and Atletico are powerless to stopping him leaving if the Red Devils trigger his £85m release clause.
But should their worst fears be realised, Diego Simeone and co. know who they want to replace Griezmann.
According to Di Marzio, Atletico want either Diego Costa, Alexandre Lacazette or Andrea Belotti to come in to fill the gap vacated.
All three strikers had brilliant seasons last year, scoring 22, 37 and 28 goals respectively in all competitions.
The rumours about Costa are perhaps the most intriguing given his history with the club.
The Chelsea striker reportedly indicated earlier this week that Atletico are the only club he would leave Stamford Bridge for after four brilliant seasons with them between 2010 and 2014.
Lacazette is almost certain to leave Lyon after another stunning season, with Liverpool and Borussia Dortmund also interested, while Belotti’s stock has grown massively in the last 12 months.
The Italian striker also has a reported release clause north of £80m so Atletico may have to completely reinvest the Griezmann money should they opt for him.
Which forward would be the right option?
