Lucas Perez has told Arsene Wenger he wants to quit Arsenal this summer with Deportivo La Coruna eyeing a £17.5million deal.
The Spanish forward, 28, looks set to return to his former club after being limited to just 21 bit-part appearances in the 2016-17 season.
In fact, Perez failed to make a single appearance under Wenger since the 5-0 FA Cup win over Lincoln on March 11.
The Spaniard was in fact a part of the Deportivo squad for this season – making one appearance in La Liga, when he scored in the 2-1 win over Eibar.
Perez originally joined the Spanish side on loan from Greek side PAOK in 2014-15, before signing a permanent deal for the 2015-16 season.
He excelled in his first official season at Deportivo, netting 17 times in just 36 games – attracting the attention of Wenger.
However, the French boss has now been rocked by Perez insisting to leave the club after just one season at the Emirates.
Perez played just 11 games in the Premier League and now wants to join a team in order to gain regular first-team football.
The Spaniard still holds onto hope he can break into his nation’s squad for the 2018 World Cup in Russia next summer.
Deportivo are set to jump at the chance to re-sign their former forward and have readied a £17.5m bid.
However, they’re hoping to land Perez for closer to £12m after his minor role in London this term.
