Apparently Asmir Begovic still exists, and he’s on his way to Bournemouth.
Having spent a couple of seasons sitting on Chelsea’s bench staring forlornly at Thibaut Courtois, the giant Bosnian is heading to the South coast.
And amazingly, Chelsea have made a pretty penny on the 29-year-old, with the Cherries reportedly agreeing on a £10million fee for the goalkeeper.
That’s £2m MORE than what they paid Stoke for him two seasons ago, despite the shot-stopper making just 19 appearances for the Blues in that time.
That’s some pretty tidy business.
Bournemouth fans won’t mind though, with the signing of Begovic a huge upgrade on their current No 1 Artur Boruc.
What’s more, Begovic will be relieved to move to a club that can guarantee him first-team football.
Speaking earlier this year, Begovic said: ”For me, it is about wanting to play, I find it very difficult, not playing for a long time and that’s something that I would like to do.
“If the club would allow me to do that, under the right circumstances, then that’s what I’ll do.”
So everyone’s happy, I guess?
Chelsea’s next port of call will be to find a goalie who’s willing to sit on the bench full-time.
Craig Gordon, we’re looking at you.
