But according to reports in Italian publication II Mattino, he has already agreed to join domestic rivals Napoli.

The Polish international was due to return to the Emirates this summer following his double-season stint in the capital.

Roma did have the option to turn Szczesny’s move into a permanent one.

However, they are not expected to explore that possibility due to the fact they see Brazilian Alisson as being their No1.

And that leaves the path open for Napoli to push ahead to complete a deal for the 27-year-old.

They have already reportedly held talks with his representatives.

A three-year contract has been placed on the table for the stopper.
