Chelsea manager Antonio Conte wants to spend £200million on SIX new signings to improve his Blues squad this summer, according to reports.
The Italian wants to add options and depth with the Premier League champions set to defend their crown and compete in the Champions League.
According to the Independent, Conte has targeted six key areas – with Virgil van Dijk and Alvaro Morata his two top priorities.
Conte wants at least one striker, depending on the future of Diego Costa, two centre-backs, another forward to play in the front three, a central midfielder and a back-up goalkeeper to replace Asmir Begovic.
Southampton man mountain Van Dijk is the top target for the defensive role and although Manchester City and Liverpool are both interested in the Dutchman, he is reported to be favouring a move to Chelsea.
Alvaro Morata has long been Conte’s first-choice to replace Costa – should he leave – but Romelu Lukaku returning from Everton is also on the cards.
The biggest stumbling block for the Belgian would be his expected £75million fee, with Morata likely to be available for much less.
Conte is also still interested in a reunion with Swansea striker Fernando Llorente, but the former Juventus striker will only arrive if Costa leaves.
Napoli star Dries Mertens is also on Chelsea’s radar, although the Serie A club do not want to sell.
The Belgian, 30, has enjoyed the best season of his career, scoring 31 goals this season and he can play on the wing, behind the striker or up front.
There will be sales to fund the extravagant spree, with Asmir Begovic almost certain to leave while Thibaut Courtois, Eden Hazard, Willian and Diego Costa have all been linked with big-money sales.
