Liverpool are trying to push through a £26million transfer for Brazilian starlet Luan they’ve been watching for a year.
Jurgen Klopp is determined to bring the young striker dubbed the ‘new Ronaldinho’ to Liverpool to team up with his Brazilian compatriots Philippe Coutinho and Roberto Firmino.
The Mirror report that a deal is almost complete for the 24-year-old who declined a new contract with his current club Gremio.
The Brazil international has only a year left on his current deal with the Porto Alegre team, and that has forced Gremio to contact with several clubs around Europe’s top leagues.
The Mirror’s report also says the players representatives met in London with those who represent Anfield to discuss terms.
Luan has been described by Ronaldinho himself as Brazil’s next star, and he confirmed his reputation by helping Brazil win Olympic gold alongside Neymar and City’s Gabriel Jesus last summer in Rio.
Luan impressed in the Olympics scoring a wonder goal in the quarter-finals and scoring again in the semis followed by a converted penalty in the gold medal match shootout.
The youngster can play wide of a front three, centrally as a striker or number 10, which is perfect for Klopp, who is looking for a goal-scoring wide player who can fit into his constantly adapting attacking line.
