Just when you thought Chelsea’s midfield couldn’t get anymore combative.
Acoording to reports in France, the Blues are leading the race to sign Monaco’s Tiemoue Bakayoko.
The 22-year-old is one of a number of players likely to leave the current Ligue 1 leaders in the summer.
Despite being on course to seal a Premier League and FA Cup double in his first season, Antonio Conte is seeking major reinforcements all over the park once the transfer window opens.
And a central midfield of Bakayoko and N’Golo Kante would be among the most hardworking in Europe.
Bakayoko is just 22 and has been the driving force behind Monaco’s high-octane performances which has seen them hold off PSG in the title hunt thus far.
He averages approximately five interceptions and five tackles per game.
French outlet L’Equipe claim Moanco would only be willing to do business on two of their prize assets.
And with the likes of Bernardo Silva, Kylian Mbappe and Thomas Lemar also prime targets for several big European clubs, Chelsea may have to act fast to land their man.
Monaco are in a position to demand high transfer fees for their star players, not that has ever deterred Roman Abramovich in the past.
