Liverpool vs Man City: Diogo Jota to top up his tally against Premier League title rivals

Two of the Premier League’s top tacticians will go head to head on Sunday.

And when Slaven Bilic and Nuno Espirito Santo are finished in the day’s earlier fixtures, Pep Guardiola and Jurgen Klopp will take centre stage.

It’s a clash between Premier League leaders Liverpool and 10th-placed Man City at the Etihad Stadium.

I only mention ’10th-place’ because this one will almost certainly be billed as a title decider. In November. After seven games.

Manchester City vs Liverpool

  • Diogo Jota to score and Liverpool to win: 6/1 BET HERE

There’s only one place to start and, for once, it isn’t Mohamed Salah.

Diogo Jota has been in scintillating form since Liverpool paid the Portuguese national team Wolves an initial £41m for his signature in September.

The 23-year-old has scored seven goals in ten appearances, including a Champions League hat-trick and looks set to retain his place ahead of Roberto ‘Bobby’ Firmino.

Man City’s defenders will be stretched trying to nullify Salah and Sadio Mane and may underestimate Jota if he’s tasked with leading the line ahead of Firmino.

But if Firmino gets the nod to start, you can back Firmino to score and Liverpool to win at 13/2 – as he will look show critics he is their no.1 striker.

The Citizens have been bossing it on the European stage but they aren’t as free-flowing and goal-hungry on the domestic scene.

Guardiola’s side have failed to score more than one goal in their last four outings against Leeds, Arsenal, West Ham and Sheffield United.

And with the champions averaging 2.29 Premier League goals per game, we fancy pairing a Jota goal with an away win at odds of 6/1.

Arsenal vs Aston Villa

  • Arsenal to win and both teams to score: 11/5 BET HERE

Only Burnley and Sheffield United have scored fewer goals than Arsenal in the last five top-flight fixtures, and nobody has scored more than Aston Villa in that period.

Obviously Villa’s stats are distorted by their 7-2 win over Liverpool but Dean Smith’s side can score away from home. In fact they’ve not drawn a blank on the road since July.

Interestingly, Arsenal have been dry on the road but have scored at least two goals in three of their last four games at the Emirates.

We expect those trends to continue on Sunday evening and that should see the Gunners run out winners with both teams to get on the scoresheet at generous odds of 11/5 with Betway.
