Revealed! The 9 dirty dressing room tricks sides use to put off the opposition…

Nick Rostron-Pike

We all know sides will do ANYTHING to get an advantage.

Who knew they’d stoop this low though…

1 Chelsea

Stamford Bridge’s away changing room only has a few cunning tricks to get into the minds of opposition players.

While you might not be that surprised by the fact there are only two massage tables, the Blues have deliberately put in low benches along with high hooks for clothing.

The result leaves players stretching up and bending down to reach their belongings. Not exactly what you need when you’ve got 90 minutes of battling with Diego Costa to come.

2 Liverpool

Before the rebuild, the Reds would shine the floor of Anfield so opposition players have to tread on their tip toes before walking under the famous ‘The is Anfield’ sign.

3 Arsenal

The Emirates has a cleverly placed central island which, when food and drinks have been placed on it, means opposition players can’t see their manager give his rousing pre-match team-talk.

4 West Ham

Steven Gerrard complained the Hammers made Liverpool park their team bus a mile away, and turned up the heating before a Premier League clash in 2014. The Olympic Stadium hasn’t been kind to the home team though!

5 Anzhi Makhachkala

Ahead of Spurs’ Europa League clash against the Russian side in 2013, Anzhi laid out what can only be described as bizarre arm-chairs for the north London club. It matter a jot though as the Lilywhites were easy 2-0 winners.

6 Middlesbrough

When Boro moved into their Riverside home they already had a foot up on the opposition. The North East side made the away dressing in the shape of an ‘L’ so that the opposition manager couldn’t make eye contact with all of his players.

7 Wimbledon

We know the Crazy Boys were a tough team to face in their day. And it started in the dressing room. The Dons would turn the heating down (so it was freezing) and then play music at ridiculously loud levels to intimate their opposition.

8 Sunderland

The Stadium of Light’s away dressing room is painted yellow to put off the opposition. It has NOT worked.

9 Benfica

Talking of the Stadium of Light – Benfica’s ground features pictures of irate home fans in the away dressing room to put opposition players under pressure from the off.
