Happy Monday to everyone, especially Sonny.
Well folks, the new season is almost here and I’ll be honest, after that Watford defeat, I’m not quite feeling the excitement just yet!
Still, I’m sure that’ll soon change come Friday.
Right, let’s get stuck in shall we?
As far as preparations go for a new season, an away defeat to a Championship side isn’t exactly ideal.
In case you missed it, a depleted Spurs suffered a 2-1 loss to Watford on Saturday, with Jose Mourinho only able to name 19 players in his squad due to the international break.
The lads were 2-0 down just before half-time, before Heung-Min Son bagged a penalty with just over 10 minutes to go to make it 2-1.
Speaking of Sonny, our South Korean star made a 40-yard dash in the 92nd minute to make a goal-line clearance to prevent Watford from scoring a third. God love him.
ALL OR NOTHING
Fans were treated to the latest three episodes of Amazon Prime Video’s ‘All Or Nothing: Tottenham Hotspur’ today, and everyone is talking about that Danny Rose scene.
For those that haven’t seen it yet, I won’t spoil the party, but let’s just say Rose and Mourinho aren’t exactly the best of friends.
Although I understood some of his points I admit, the way in which Rose went about it wasn’t exactly music to Mourinho’s ears.
No wonder he went out on loan to Newcastle, and after seeing that, no wonder Newcastle didn’t want to extend his stay either.
NEW THIRD KIT
The club today revealed their new third kit for the 2020/21 season.
Personally, I’m not a huge fan of it, but it’s great to see a yellow third kit being used – a classic Spurs colour.
The central badges are supposedly a nod to our FA Cup Final triumph in 1982, and for that alone, they deserve a round of applause.
With the news that Spurs will face either Leyton Orient or Plymouth Argyle in the third round of the Carabao Cup, September and October are looking a little hairy for the lads.
Mourinho’s side will play nine games across three weeks, which is already giving me nightmares about potential injuries.
We all know the demands of modern football are ridiculous, but this is borderline dangerous for the players. Spurs will average a match every 2.5 days during this period, with little to no recovery time.
If we’re to win something this season, it’ll have to be done the hard way.
