City’s loss left Liverpool 23 points clear at the top of the Premier League with just seven games left to play.
In what was essentially a foregone conclusion prior to the restart of the Premier League, Klopp and Liverpool have ended 30 years of hurt after a dominant campaign.
Liverpool won 28 of their 31 games, with their single defeat coming against Watford in February and Man United and Everton the only other teams to have taken points from them in the league.
It caps a remarkable year for the club after they sealed their sixth Champions League title last June before winning the Club World Cup in December.
