O captain! My captain!
Vincent Kompany’s unbelievable strike might just have decided the Premier League title race once and for all.
If the Belgian’s 30-yard thunderbastard proves the difference between Man City and Liverpool come next weekend, then a statue of the club captain outside the Etihad can’t be too far away.
We should hardly be surprised by Kompany’s heroics.
The 33-year-old is very much a man with pedigree of stepping up when it matters most and producing clutch moments.
Back in 2012, as City hunted down their first Premier League title, Kompany scored what proved to be a decisive header against Man United that still lives long in the memory.
That moment took Roberto Mancini’s side to the summit and would prove crucial in City bringing the Premier League to the Etihad.
Without Kompany’s header against their bitter rivals, there never would have been *those* Sergio Aguero scenes on the final day of the season against OPR.
His latest captain fantastic moment could be the biggest yet.
You’ll never tire of watching it… unless you’re a Liverpool fan, of course.
Brendan Rodgers’ plucky Leicester held City at bay for 70 minutes – the longest the Citizens had gone without a goal at the Etihad this season.
But their efforts were undone by the blockbuster moment and what was goal number 100 for City at home this season.
It was Kompany’s 27th shot from outside the box of his career and the first that has ever found the back of the net.
If at first you don’t succeed, then try and try again.
City fans will have just one question for their captain if he lifts another Premier League trophy next Sunday.
Where would you like your statue, Vincent?
