We may well be witnessing the final weeks of Eden Hazard’s Premier League career.
Real Madrid are lurking and Hazard is batting his eye lashes again, but this summer the rumours feel more concrete, more real.
But Chelsea fans will be hoping they already boast a ready-made replacement for their magic man.
It has gone slightly under the radar, but agreeing a £56m deal to sign Christian Pulisic from Borussia Dortmund in January is a hell of a coup… particularly with the Blues’ transfer ban looming.
And on Saturday Pulisic was doing his best impression of Hazard against Werder Bremen.
Think back to that outrageous Hazard strike against West Ham last month and you’re pretty much in the right ball park.
Picking the ball up near the halfway line, the American had very little in the way of support.
That didn’t deter him though, nutmegging a Werder defender to open up space in behind before finishing with aplomb.
It gave Dortmund the lead in a crucial encounter as they look to close Bayern Munich’s lead at the top of the Bundesliga to two points.
Football works in mysterious ways and it’s weirdly pleasing that Dortmund are reportedly signing Hazard’s younger brother Thorgan to replace Pulisic at the end of the season.
If he can produce stuff like this at Stamford Bridge next season, Eden might not be missed so much…
