He’ll pass the ball, calm as you like.
Virgil van Dijk has reportedly won this season’s PFA Players’ Player of the Year award.
That’s according to the Daily Mail, who are reporting that the Liverpool colossus has edged out Raheem Sterling for the accolade.
Van Dijk was named last weekend as part of a six-man shortlist that also featured Sterling, Sadio Mane, Eden Hazard, Sergio Aguero and Raheem Sterling.
The official announcement is due on Thursday but the Dutch centre-back has won the biggest backing from his peers after an incredible season at Anfield.
It means the award will stay with Liverpool after Mo Salah triumphed last year.
No defender has been involved in more Premier League clean sheets since his world record £75m move from Southampton in January 2018.
Liverpool now boast the best defensive record in the division, conceding just 20 goals in 35 games.
The 2019 PFA Awards will be held at the Grosvenor House Hotel in London on April 28.
