Young was reportedly made up that he could be the man to be on the end of the Premier League’s most famous referee’s biggest career moment.

Unofficial Man United insider Lee Satchell revealed Young said leaving his side down to 10 men for most of the second half was worth it so he could grant Dean his crowning glory.

“He told me he felt Dean had been working towards this moment his entire career and he wouldn’t have wanted any other player to get the honour of being his 100th Premier League sending off,” Satchell said.

“In fact he was so chuffed that he said he would help fund a Mike Dean 100: Every Red Card DVD for any young fan that wanted to see a master at work.”
