It seems some will go to extreme lengths to stop Liverpool winning the league.
Ross Barkley left Everton over a year ago, but he proved he’s still Toffees through and through by helping the Reds’ title rivals Man City out on Sunday.
We’re sure he didn’t mean it. Positive. Definitely.
Anyway, Chelsea were already on the ropes at the Etihad before Barkley *inadvertently* put it on a plate for Sergio Aguero to get his second and City’s third.
After a spot of pinball in the Blues’ penalty area, Barkley’s clearing header looped the wrong way and fell right at Aguero’s feet.
The master finisher could scarcely believe his luck, doing the rest by tucking past Kepa Arrizabalaga.
Barkley looked on in disbelief, but we all know he’s a sleeper agent for Everton.
His mission? To stop Liverpool winning a first Premier League crown, even if it means producing embarrassing moments and potential career suicide.
Atta boy, Ross.
In the grand scheme of things it probably wouldn’t have changed too much, what with City 4-0 up after just 25 minutes.
But Barkley wasn’t about to take any chances.
