N’Golo Kante’s triple nutmeg goal deserves a place in football’s museum of bizarre goals

Not one, not two but three nutmegs

Some things you just never expect to see.

Gary Cahill doing Cruyff turns, Mesut Ozil busting a lung to make a recovery tackle… and N’Golo Kante scoring a goal including three nutmegs.

Against Spurs tonight that is exactly what we were treated to.

Chelsea were dominating a decimated Spurs side all over the pitch when they finally got the breakthrough.

Kante was loitering on the edge of the box when a corner was delivered and as the ball bounced loose he was ready to pounce.

The Frenchman has been tasked with playing a more advanced role under Maurizio Sarri this season but it still doesn’t feel normal watching the world’s best destroyer letting fly from 18 yards.

However, this goal was more than just unique.

For Kante’s shot went through three separate pairs of legs before nestling in the back of the Spurs net.

We’ve never seen anything like it before.

As Kante swung his right peg at the bouncing ball it flies through Ben Davies’ open legs as he slides in with a block.

Then Moussa Sissoko was left frozen as it rolled through his open legs before finally slipping through Paulo Gazzaniga’s.

It came against a Spurs side that looked completely rudderless without Harry Kane, Dele Alli and Heung-min Son.

Chelsea soon doubled their lead on the night, and opened up a one-goal aggregate lead, when Eden Hazard diverted the ball home after a swift counter.
