Football fans want their money’s worth.
Whether it’s via hard copy tickets or the comfort of your own living room, entertainment is a must.
Players become cult heroes by providing anything from goals to laughs to pure passion.
And in Alfredo Morelos, Rangers have all of that rolled up into one big bundle of idiosyncratic, unpredictable fun.
Morelos has somehow become both Mr Reliable and entirely unreliable at the same time for Steven Gerrard this season.
That’s because you never really know what he’s going to do next.
The cracker-jack Colombian currently boasts some ridiculous goalscoring statistics and a terrible disciplinary record.
In 33 appearances across all competitions Morelos has 20 goals, 10 assists, 11 yellow cards and three red cards.
Rangers have so far competed for three trophies in 2018/19 – the Scottish Premiership, the Europa League and the Scottish League Cup – and Morelos has faced a suspension in all of them.
But his goal contribution puts him up there with the most prolific in Europe.
Only Lionel Messi has scored and assisted more, with the ageless Argentine racking up 34 goals and assists so far.
No wonder Gerrard said back in November ‘I will fall out with people to keep him here’ after reports of bigger clubs sniffing around.
When he’s not scoring or creating he’s being an utter s***house and getting himself into trouble.
Imagine how many more he could have bagged if he wasn’t always suspended?
