Ederson’s maverick antics nearly got him in A LOT of trouble against Hoffenheim

It was nearly a night to forget for Man City goalkeeper Ederson last night

Goalkeepers are a strange breed aren’t they?

Last night Man City were drawing 1-1 with Hoffenheim in the Champions League, with the game a lot closer than most expected.

City needed cool heads and resilience in the end to break down the Bundesliga side.

Ederson’s patience was tested… and a moment of madness nearly left him with egg on his face.

Ederson’s opposite number, Oliver Baumann, hoofed the ball long to try and catch the City defence out.

There was an apparent foot race between Leroy Sane, Kyle Walker and Hoffenheim forward Andrej Kramric.

A two horse race between the two City players, you would think.

Until suddenly you see a green flash appear on the left of the screen as Ederson runs 40 yards out of his goal like a bat out of hell in a rogue attempt to clear the danger.

Only he completely misjudges the flight of the ball, jumping too early and missing ti completely.

If it wasn’t for the pace of Sane, Kramaric would have been through on goal with the net at his mercy.

Having lost their opening fixture against Lyon, it was a night where City really couldn’t afford another slip up.

So Pep and co will have been thankful that David Silva popped up with that vital late winner and Ederson’s brain fart didn’t cost them before.
