It’s a picture to make men everywhere wince. We’ve all seen it, haven’t we?
The infamous ‘grab’ from Vinnie Jones on a 17-year-old Paul Gascoigne is one of the most iconic images in English football history.
Now, after over 30 years of silence, the two sat down face-to-face with talkSPORT to discuss the incident.
After some special treatment only the ex-Wimbledon hardman can provide throughout a game, Gascoigne asked: “Are you getting a hundred quid for this?”
Not to be outdone, Jones said of the incident: “I just grabbed him, and it was spot on. It weren’t no fiddling about.
“He had a bit of luncheon on him, the boy, to be fair at 17.”
Since the incident, Gazza has clearly been asked a lot about the sincerity of his face as he’s being grabbed by Jones.
But he claims his emotion was all genuine, claiming: “No-one makes a face like that unless he’s grabbing your knackers!”
It’s great to see the two share a laugh, clearly there are no more hard feelings…
To hear Vinnie Jones and Gazza in the second part of their interview, listen to talkSPORT on Sunday 30 September at 8pm here.
