Neymar has his critics.
The world’s most expensive player has a penchant for the theatrical which has only become more exaggerated since he agreed to downgrade in standard with a move from Barcelona to PSG.
Despite the Brazilian’s undisputed talent, his reputation among neutrals is in decline.
However, credit where credit is due, his handling of young fans is top class.
Not for the first time in his career, Neymar was approached by a young pitch invader as he made his way off the pitch during PSG’s win away to Rennes.
The boy was clarly overwhelmed at meeting one of his heroes as he burst into floods of tears.
As security closed in, Neymar put his arm around the boy and ushered the stewards away.
The pair walked off the field together before Neymar gave the fan his shirt as a parting gift.
It didn’t take much from the 26-year-old but it clearly meant the world to the young lad.
Well played, well played.
