Juventus plan £45m raid for Real Madrid star Marcelo to reunite defender with Cristiano Ronaldo in Italy

Brazilian is regarded as the best left-back in the world, but the things have not started well under new boss Julen Lopetegui who dragged him off after an hour of win over Girona

Juventus are planning another raid on Real Madrid with a tilt at Marcelo, according to reports.

Tuttosport claims the Brazilian defender is already missing his mate Cristiano Ronaldo who moved the Serie A champions last month.

A deal before Friday’s deadline is unlikely, however, Juve are working on a £45m deal for Marcelo to link up with the Portuguese superstar again next summer.

The 30-year-old left-back has another four years to run on his contract, allowing the Spanish giants to push for the highest fee possible if they are willing to do business.

Marcelo moved to the Bernabeu from Fluminense in 2007 and has won four La Liga and Champions League titles.

But life under new boss Julen Lopetegui has got off to a bad start as he was dragged off after an hour of the win against Girona last Sunday.

“I was surprised by the change but I respect the decision of the coach, I wanted to continue because I feel good, 100-per-cent.

“I do not understand it but I respect it, it’s a decision of the coach, but I always want to play.”

Reports from Spain claimed Lopetegui was unhappy with Marcelo’s performance and thought he was at fault for Girona’s goal.

If the defender regarded as one of the best left-back in the world is dropped for Saturday’s home game against Leganes and struggles to regain his place, then an escape route to Italy could be on the cards.
