How did we all grow to love Gary Neville? When on earth did that happen?
Albeit not a particularly successful manager during his short-spell with Valencia, Neville does have an undoubted talent for pontificating on others.
The return of Monday Night Football was for football fans the equivalent of Love Island returning for the sad and needy.
Neville, and his partner in banter Jamie Carragher, were sat either side of Dave Jones once again on the popular Sky Sports show, ahead of Liverpool’s trip to Crystal Palace.
Much of the pre-match chat revolved around Arsenal’s troublesome start to life under their new manager Unai Emery.
The Gunners slumped to back-to-back defeats in their opening two games of the season, leading to criticism from the some quarters aimed towards the Spaniard.
Emery does however have a staunch supporter in the former Man United and England defender.
Neville jumped to the defence of the Arsenal manager, firing back at some of the criticism the Spaniard has faced this season, firing shots at one man in particular.
Sam Allardyce, or, ‘Big Sam’, if you want to use his Brexit name, recently labelled the style that Emery was trying to implement at Arsenal as “stupid.”
The comments clearly triggered Neville, who seemingly believes that fellow managers should stick together rather than criticise each other.

The analysis seemed even more sincere considering Neville’s rocky patch as a manager in La Liga.
Referencing his experience at Valencia, where he admits that he conceded on his principals when the going got tough, the advice came from direct experience.
