This really could be Liverpool’s year, y’know.
The Reds carried on from their blistering goal-scoring form of last season with a thumping win over West Ham in their Premier League opener.
Mohamed Salah, Sadio Mane and even Daniel Sturridge netted for Jurgen Klopp’s side, but for many fans the best player on the pitch was new signing Naby Keita.
The former Leipzig midfielder – who finally moved to Anfield over the summer after the Reds paid around £50million for his services last summer – made his debut in their opener alongside fellow transfer window buys Alisson and Xherdan Shaqiri.
And it was clear from the off that the Guinean is an absolutely brilliant signing for the title-contenders.
Seemingly tailor-made for Klopp’s side, Keita grew in confidence as game went on, winning tackles and slowing the play down to break up West Ham’s counter-attacks.
And couple that with his effortless ability to spring attacks and find killer passes to the forward-lines means the 23-year-old really is everything fans expected him to be.
It seems he’s a favourite already.
Best of all, he’s seemed to already demonstrate a brilliant understanding with the Reds famed striker-trio, creating space and time for his attacking teammates with his unique style of play.
In fact, he played a crucial role in Liverpool’s opening goal against the Hammers today, playing in wing-back Andy Robertson on the flank who picked out Salah for his first goal of the season.
We expect to see plenty of this from new boy this season, and we can’t wait.
Priced at just £3.0m on Dream Team at the start of the season, we think this guy could be seriously popular on the game this year.
