Out of all of the new signings making their debuts in the Premier League this weekend, Jorginho’s was arguably the one we were most excited about.
The new Chelsea signing was one of the standout midfielders in Italy last season and was instrumental to Napoli’s beautiful style of play under Maurizio Sarri.
With the two reunited at Stamford Bridge this season, we’ve been eagerly anticipating the Blues first game of the new campaign.

Well, Jorginho certainly hasn’t disappointed.
Thrown into Chelsea’s starting line-up for their first game of their season against Huddersfield, the Italy international looked cool and calm in their midfield alongside N’Golo Kante and Ross Barkley.
And while Kante surprised us all by scoring Chelsea’s opener, it was Jorginho’s penalty just before half-time that got everyone talking.
On the 42nd minute, Marcos Alonso had a good chance to score but was denied by Christopher Schindler’s foul in the box, leaving the referee little choice but to point to the spot.
Of course, it was up to Jorginho to convert the penalty.
Although he rarely scored from open-play with Napoli, his penalty record across all competitions is something else; missing just one of his last 11 spot-kicks.
Naturally, he slotted home past Ben Hamer with the coolest penalty you’ll see all year.
With a little hop before he took the run-up, Jorginho calmly struck his penalty low to Hamer’s left, leaving the goalie rooted to the spot.
Amazingly, only 7% of you have selected the Chelsea new-boy for your Dream Team line-ups so far, but we reckon more of you might opt for him after the weekend.
