But despite his arrival at the club, Costa Rican international Navas remains hell-bent on staying at Real.

Speaking to Onda Cero, Navas said: “Of course, and I say this with force, I have the same desire to leave that I have to die.”

It has been claimed that former Spain boss Lopetegui still fully supports the one-time Levante ace, and wants him to fight for his position.

Navas played the whole 90 minutes in the 2-1 win against Roma in the International Champions Cup yesterday.

He has featured in at least 40 games in all competitions for the last three seasons running, and has racked up 141 appearances since making his debut in 2014.

Chelsea swiftly replaced Courtois, 26, with Kepa Arrizabalaga from Athletic Bilbao for £71.6m – a world-record fee for a shot-stopper.

While the Blues also completed the signing of Navas’ team-mate Mateo Kovacic on a season-long loan deal.
