He knows his chances of breaking into the side are limited and he is behind Alexandre Lacazette and Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang in the pecking order.
And it appears Perez, 29, has now been granted his wish by the Gunners and will be allowed to leave this summer.
Serie A club Lazio are interested in taking the Spaniard to Italy.
But Corriere di Roma say they have been told they will not get him for less than £7m.

Perez, who scored eight goals and made six assists while on-loan at Deportivo La Coruna last season, is back in London for pre-season training.
He has held talks with new manager Unai Emery over his future where it appears he was told he can depart.
Lazio sporting director Igli Tare is confident a deal can be completed before next month’s transfer window.
Perez joined Arsenal for £17m back in August 2016 but he scored just once in 11 Premier League matches for the Gunners.
