CHELSEA have reportedly had an opening offer for Daniele Rugani rejected.
The Blues launched a £26.5million move for the star this week.
But La Gazzetta Dello Sport claim the Serie A champions turned down the bid.
Rugani, 23, is regarded as one of the most gifted defenders on the continent.
He has established himself in the Italian national squad but still struggles for regular action with Juve.
That has led to the former Empoli ace being linked with a switch away from Turin.
And Maurizio Sarri, who is set to replace Antonio Conte as Chelsea manager, wants to bring Rugani with him from Italy.
The ex-Napoli chief knows all about his capabilities and would love to go straight into the heart of his Blues backline.
It is also claimed that Rugani has agreed personal terms with the Premier League outfit.
Now all that remains is for the two clubs to agree on a figure, with Chelsea expected to try again with a new offer next week.
