Spurs and West Ham battle it out for £31m Barcelona ace

The 25-year-old spent the end of the season on loan at Inter Milan, and could now be heading to the Premier League

TOTTENHAM are set to battle West Ham for the signing of Barcelona midfielder Rafinha, according to reports in Spain.

The 25-year-old has been deemed as surplus to requirements at the Nou Camp, and spent the back end of the season on loan at Inter Milan.

It had been reported that the Hammers were leading the race to nab the Brazilian international, but they now face competition from their London rivals.

Spanish news outlet Sport claim that Mauricio Pochettino has identified Rafinha as a key transfer target.

It is believed it would take around £31million in order to prise the ex-Celta Vigo loanee away from the La Liga champions.

Rafinha starred for the Nerazzurri after joining in January – helping the club secure Champions League football.

He racked up 17 appearances in Serie A – chalking up two goals and three assists as Luciano Spalletti’s side scraped past Lazio to finish fourth.

He could be seen as an alternative for Norwich ace James Maddison, with Everton and Leicester leading the race to land the 21-year-old.

While Tottenham are also believed to be keen on landing Aston Villa maestro Jack Grealish.

The club are also looking at tying Christian Eriksen and Dele Alli down to new contracts imminently after Harry Kane penned a new six-year deal until 2024.
