Has it just got very cold in here?
There is something very spooky going in the Champions League when it comes to spectacular bicycle kicks.
We haven’t just seen one incredible effort this season, but two that are equal competitors for the Ferenc Puskas award.
But this is when things start to get a bit spooky.
Both overhead strikes came from the same team and from almost exactly symmetrical positions for left and right footers.
Cristiano Ronaldo’s gravity-defying volley against Juventus in the quarter finals left the football world picking up their bottom jaw.
Then Gareth Bale stepped up in the Champions League FINAL to stun everyone watching the game all over the world with what is being called the greatest goal in Europe… ever.
Take a bow, son.
What proves (potentially) that there are otherworldly forces at work in this year’s tournament is that Bale and Ronaldo’s majestic goals both happened at EXACTLY the same time of the game.
Stop rubbing your chin, it’s correct, Ronaldo dragged Real level with 63.01 on the clock and when Bale gave Madrid one hand on the trophy to put them ahead the clock read 63.01.
We don’t know if there’s any backup to the theory that this proves the Champions League is really Real Madrid’s competition and that Los Blancos are the true Kings of Europe.
But it is still a pretty weird coincidence, right?
