Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang has welcomed Unai Emery to Arsenal, claiming the club had “stagnated” under Arsene Wenger.
Emery was confirmed as the Frenchman’s replacement earlier this week following two years at Paris Saint-Germain.
The Spaniard impressed Gunners chiefs with his knowledge of the club and vision for the future.
And fans will be hoping Emery can get Arsenal back to winning ways in the Premier League after a sharp decline in Wenger’s latter years.
Many players admitted they were disappointed to see the veteran leave North London after 22 years in charge.
But Aubameyang believes the decision to change managers is a good one, despite only moving to Arsenal in January.
The former Borussia Dortmund man looks set to play a big role under Emery.
And Aubameyang insists everyone involved at the club is actually “excited” about the new appointment, saying: “I think it’s a little bit of a mixed feeling.
“Over the last few seasons – you have to tell the truth – the club has stagnated a little bit.
“I think everyone is actually a little bit excited to see what happens next season.”
