MAN UNITED have reportedly opened talks to sign Toby Alderweireld.
But Tottenham are claimed to want similar money to the £75million that Liverpool paid Southampton for Virgil van Dijk, according to The Mirror.

The defender, 29, has rejected a contract offer from Tottenham worth £120,000 a week – more than double his current £50k-a-week pay packet.
And Jose Mourinho wants to rival Chelsea to bring in the Belgian, who joined from Atletico Madrid for £11.5m, as one of the four defenders he has targeted.
United are confident of doing a deal around the £40m mark, with Paris Saint-Germain and Barcelona also interested.
The Red Devils are also willing to offer Alderweireld a contract that will take him into his mid-thirties – something Spurs are unwilling to do.
Spurs boss Mauricio Pochettino indicated further talks were expected with Alderweireld, but the player is now on holiday in Greece.
Spurs are expected to use the proceeds from any sale to reinvest in Ajax sensation Matthijs de Ligt.
As revealed by SunSport, 18-year-old De Ligt is a £50m a target and could soon line up alongside former Ajax favourites Davinson Sanchez, Jan Vertonghen and Christian Eriksen.
Sanchez joined for £42m last summer and has been rewarded for an impressive first season in England with a new six-year deal.
The Colombian defender has been handed a pay rise, with his stay extended by one further year.
