Man City struggle to fill seats on open top bus parade

The record-breaking Premier League champions couldn't fill the seats on their own bus during the parade

Man City smashed the Premier League record books with the most points, most goals and most wins this season.

And on Monday they celebrated it just like every champion before them, with an open-top bus parade around Manchester.

The only problem was that they couldn’t even fill their own bus for the celebration.

An unofficial Man City insider, Lee Satchell, told us that the club’s hierarchy were incredibly embarrassed as the empty bus toured round the City.

There were a number of fans who came out to cheer on the players and then there was supposed to be another bus full of supporters.

But Satchell explained that like the Etihad for most of this season, City couldn’t actually fill the seats on the bus.

Which resulted in some pretty ridiculous pictures as an empty bus rolled through the streets.

“The Abu Dhabi owners couldn’t believe what they were seeing,” Satchell said.

“They thought they had the biggest team in Manchester and England because they had won three Premier League titles and that people would be falling over themselves to get on the bus.

“I think they switched off the TV and told Pep Guardiola they would give him another £1billion to spend if it meant they would be liked more than United.”

Satchell added that his contacts on the red side of Manchester felt that it showed City’s inexperience of winning.

“They told me ‘look when you’ve won 13 Premier League titles you know exactly how to get people to come and that’s because you’ve got history’,” Satchell said.
