ARSENAL are in talks to sign Bayer Leverkusen goalkeeper Bernd Leno and could snap him up for £22million.
The Gunners are looking FOR a new stopper, with Petr Cech and David Ospina not seen as long-term options.
The North London club’s hierarchy have doubts over the pair and have drawn up a shortlist of replacements.
And Arsenal are looking to trigger the 26-year-old’s release clause at Bayer, which is set at just £22million.
The Gunners face competition from across Europe for the Germany international, most notably from Atletico Madrid.
According to Bild, Napoli were also showing an interest before talks with his representatives broke down.
His agent Uli Ferber said: “I can confirm there were negotiations with Napoli, but we stopped them. Napoli are not an option.
“There are other options. We’ll sit down after the season.
“Bernd’s full focus is now on the Hannover game, and that Leverkusen make it to the Champions League.”
Cech will be 36 this month while Ospina has been considered an understudy during his four years at the club.
