Three goal comebacks only happen once a season, right?
Roma will be hoping to take that famous saying, scrunch it up into a ball and throw it straight in the bin tonight.
The Romans will be playing in front of their home fans at the Stadio Olimpico and we all know what happened when Barcelona visited with a three goal lead in the last round.
They were almost unbelievably beaten 3-0 by Eusebio Di Francesco’s side and unceremoniously dumped out of the tournament.
This time it’s Liverpool’s turn to go to the historic city and try to crack the regimented defence.
And if you’re questioning how good Roma’s are at home, sit back and read these fascinating statistics.
The Italians haven’t conceded a single goal at home in their five Champions League games this season.
They have won their four home games in the tournament, two of which by three goals or more – not against the likes of Qarabag either, we’re talking about Chelsea and Barcelona.
Edin Dzeko has scored in four consecutive games in Europe and to top it all, Roma’s Brazilian goalkeeper Alisson has saved all 20 shots on target he’s faced at the Olimpico.
Still don’t think they can do it?
Liverpool have only lost two Champions League semi-finals and one of them was to another Italian team, Inter.
With a rock solid goalkeeper, drilled backline and a striker of Dzeko’s quality it is not completely out of the question that Roma could be booking their tickets to Kiev by the time you go to bed tonight.
But what are the odds of another unlikely comeback?
Well, Sun Bets are offering a very enticing 30/1 on Roma winning 3-0 in 90 minutes and clinching a meeting with Real Madrid in the final.
